The Metropolitan Opera, or the Met, is on a mission to deepen students’ opera experiences by making opera accessible to schools across the country. Through its HD Live in Schools program, the Met transmits live opera performances in high definition to movie theaters, where students can watch the thrilling performances.
School districts taking part in the program receive free tickets to attend an entire season of HD Live in Schools at their local theaters. For the 2017-18 season, students will be treated to performances of Puccini’s Tosca, Massenet’s Cendrillon, and Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Die Zauberflӧte. Participating school districts will also receive an invitation to attend the annual national opera training conference.
Teachers will also receive free tickets to watch the performances, on top of receiving educator guides with tips and strategies to incorporate opera into their everyday teaching.
